PSL Annual General Meeting & Retreat

The largest event for Pharmacists in Liberia was last held in 2014, in 2024, the leadership amidst many challenges was pull through in convincing Pharmacists across the country that it was very imperative to converged and review the Pharmaceutical sectors, identify gaps and challenges and strategized on how to address and or mitigate those gaps.
At the Ganta 2024 Annual General Meeting / Annual Retreat 2024, the entire pharmaceutical sector was present, the Liberia Medicines & Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), the Liberia Pharmacy Board (LPB), Department of Pharmaceutical Services, School of Pharmacy and cross section of Pharmacists from hospitals, rural Pharmacists practice were in attendance. The theme of the retreat was “ Bridging the Gaps, Building a Resilient Pharmaceutical Sector”

The Pharmaceutical Society of Liberia (PSL) successfully hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Retreat in the scenic highlands of Nimba County, bringing together pharmacists from across the country for a weekend of reflection, planning, and professional bonding.
Held under the theme “Strengthening the Pillars of Pharmacy for a Healthier Liberia,” this year’s event was not only a forum for institutional review and governance but also a moment to re-energize members and celebrate the profession’s impact nationwide.
🗓️ A Gathering of Purpose and Progress
The retreat featured:
- Presentation of the President’s Annual Report outlining key achievements, challenges, and the strategic direction for the year ahead.
- Financial updates and transparency sessions to ensure accountability and inclusiveness.
- Open-floor member dialogue, allowing pharmacists to voice their views, propose initiatives, and shape PSL’s future.
- Interactive workshops and training on leadership, advocacy, and professional ethics.
Key sessions also addressed current challenges in Liberia’s pharmaceutical sector — including medicine regulation, supply chain issues, and workforce development — with robust group discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
🌿 A Moment to Reconnect & Rejuvenate
The Nimba setting provided a perfect atmosphere for members to unwind and connect outside of work. From group hikes to fireside conversations and cultural displays, the retreat promoted unity, wellness, and professional solidarity.
The event also recognized outstanding contributions by members in advancing pharmacy practice and promoting healthcare access across the country.
